About the Book

In This Moment by Gabrielle Meyer
SERIES: Timeless #2
GENRE: Historical Romance (Christian)
PUBLISHER: Bethany House
RELEASE DATE: May 2, 2023
PAGES: 400

Maggie inherited a gift from her time-crossing parents that allows her to live three separate lives in 1861, 1941, and 2001. Each night, she goes to sleep in one time period and wakes up in another. Until she turns twenty-one, when she will have to forfeit two of those lives--and everyone she knows in them--forever.

In 1861, Maggie is the daughter of a senator at the outbreak of the Civil War, navigating a capital full of Southern spies and wounded soldiers. In 1941, she is a navy nurse, grappling with her knowledge of the future when she joins a hospital ship going to Pearl Harbor. And in 2001, she's a brilliant young medical student, fulfilling her dream of becoming a surgeon.

While Maggie has sworn off romance until she makes her final choice, an intriguing man tugs at her heart in each era, only complicating the impossible decision she must make, which looms ever closer. With so much on the line, how can Maggie choose just one life to keep and the rest to lose?

Timeless #1

My Thoughts

★★★★★ - "You have bewitched me, body and soul." (More Info)

Time Travel...the ever mysterious...ever intriguing impossibility that we all (I think) wish were real...at least to some extent.

Gabrielle Meyer takes this improbability and creates a world where the impossible becomes reality as we follow Maggie through, not two, but three timelines in search of answers and a happy ending. Rooted in history, this story absolutely absorbed my every thought. I don't know that I've ever shared the plot line of a book with my husband more than this one. Bouncing my ideas for the twists I was anticipating, things I hoped were going to happen, and aspects that I was afraid WOULD happen.

Historical Romance with faith and time travel. I feel that the author covered the basics in a concise manner without having to immerse the story into the sci-fi realm. Adventure, peril, heartache, and uncertainty pair beautifully with the passion, family, love, and faith in this story. Every.single.page in both of these books are filled to the brim and will keep you turning the page until the very end.

In This Moment is the second book of the Timeless Series and I strongly encourage you to read When the Day Comes first as there is a lot of background that is explained and essential to the storyline in book two.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher. I was not required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are mine alone.

About the Book

Wealthy Arabella Lawrence flees to British Columbia on a bride ship still wearing the scars of past mistakes. One of the few single women in the boomtown, she immediately has suitors, but she is determined not to find herself trapped again by a poor choice.

Vying for her hand are two very different men. Lieutenant Richard Drummond is a gentleman in the Navy and is held in high esteem. Peter Kelly is the town’s baker and has worked hard to build a thriving business. He and Drummond not only compete for Arabella’s affections, but clash over their views of how the natives should be treated in the midst of a smallpox outbreak.

As Arabella begins to overcome her fears, she discovers someone in dire need–a starving girl abandoned by her tribe. Intent on helping the girl, Arabella leans on Peter’s advice and guidance. Will she have the wisdom to make the right decision or will seeking what’s right cost both her and Peter everything? (From the author's website)

My Thoughts

Eeeeep! Another Jody Hedlund Book!!! She is a FOREVER favorite and I will literally read anything she writes! A fabulous FABULOUS escape from this crazy life right now. Although it DID take me much longer than normal to finish...due to life upending...this story is rich and delicious. Like biting into a piece of rich dark chocolate that melts on your tongue.

The land...the people...the story...the romance...(Can I just say...baking bread...mmmmhmmm)...Jody Hedlund has a way of portraying the emotions and feelings in a way that touches the very core of your soul.

Pete Kelly...All the feels y'all! His compassionate heart. His sense of justice. His passion and determination. Combine that with the God-fearin' man that he is...and WOW! Where is my fan???

Arabella comes to British Columbia battered and bruised with scars deeper than the eye could see. Her self worth was shattered and she believes that all she has left is to find a "good match" among the upper-class society of this new land.

If you are in need of a GOOD read...One that speaks to your heart. Portrays beauty in a multitude of ways. And makes you weak in the knees...Grab The Runaway Bride now! (Kindle version recommended for immediate enjoyment since Amazon is delaying delivery of most orders right now. 😭)

I received a complimentary copy of The Runaway Bride from the publishers. I was not required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are mine alone.

An Uncommon Woman - Laura Frantz

My Rating

★★★★★ - You have bewitched me, body and soul. (More Info)

About the Book

Unflinching and plainspoken, Tessa Swan is not your typical 18th-century woman. Born and bred on the western Virginia frontier along with her five brothers, she is a force to be reckoned with.

Quiet and courageous, Clay Tygart is not your typical 18th-century man. Raised by Lenape Indians, he returns a hero from the French and Indian War to the fort that bears his name, bringing with him Tessa’s long-lost friend, Keturah, a redeemed Indian captive like himself.

Determined to avoid any romantic entanglements as fort commander, Clay remains aloof whenever he encounters the lovely Tessa. But when she is taken captive by the tribe Clay left, his hand–and heart–are forced, leading to one very private and one very public reckoning.

Intense, evocative, and laced with intricate historical details that bring the past to life, An Uncommon Woman will transport you to the picturesque and dangerous western Virginia mountains of 1770. (from the author's website)

My Thoughts

Oh, my giddy heart! What passion! What romance! What heart-pounding, breath-stealing, jaw-dropping adventures. Reader be warned...Once you reach chapter 28...you WILL have to finish the rest of the book in one sitting.

The layers of story woven together into a single book is brilliant! Although I am now ready for about 15 more books with all of these amazing people that I never want to leave! Ms. Frantz is the Queen of Swoon. Clay and Tessa's relationship was full of beauty and tenderness and all the sizzling passion (appropriate for clean inspirational read hehe).

His slow smile making her wish she could sit her woozy self down.

I love the details in this book. They are so vibrant and rich that I felt like I could hear the forest...Smell the harvest...and feel the frontier. I have read several of Laura Frantz's novels now and each one seems to linger for days. They are books to savor. To let sink down into your soul. The #bookhangover was bad with this one.

If you love the Colonial Era...set on the frontier...with richness and passion...I highly encourage you to pick up this book and get lost within these pages with Clay and Tessa...who knows...maybe you will find something as well.

I received a copy of An Uncommon Woman as partner of JustRead Tours. Being a publicity company, JustRead Tours received money to promote this book. However, this did not influence my review. I was not required to write a review. All opinions expressed are mine alone.

Aiming for Love - Brides of Hope Mountain Book 1 - Mary Connealy

About the Book

When Strangers Intrude on Three Wild Sisters’
Hidden Mountain Life, Their World Will Never Be the Same

Josephine Nordegren is one of three sisters who grew up nearly wild in southwestern Colorado. She has the archery skills of Robin Hood and the curiosity of the Little Mermaid, fascinated by but locked away from the forbidden outside world–a world she’s been raised to believe killed her parents. When David Warden, a rancher, brings in a herd much too close to the girls’ secret home, her older sister is especially frightened, but Jo is too interested to stay away.

David’s parents follow soon on his heels, escaping bandits at their ranch. But his father is wounded and needs shelter. Josephine and her sisters have the only cabin on the mountain. Do they risk stepping into the world to help those in need? Or do they remain separated but safe in the peaks of Hope Mountain? (from the author's website)

My Thoughts

From the hillside of Hope Mountain to the valley of Warden Ranch, Aiming for Love is a fascinating and entertaining story from beginning to end. Mary Connealy has given us a unique and totally NEW story.

Jo is incredible. I have never read a book with a character quite like her. While naive and ignorant of the world outside her isolated haven on Hope Mountain, Jo is an endearing heroine if ever there was one. She is resourceful and curious. Ready for adventure and ready for love. I want her clothes! LOL! This book was fabulous world building and setting the stage for the rest of the series. I feel like we've just scratched the surace of the lives of the Nordegren sisters and I can't wait to learn more about them in the books to come.

Cowboys, romance, mountains, danger, and a Ma that everyone needs in their life, Aiming for Love is the perfect blend of Mary's classic genre of Romantic Comedy...with Cowboys! It's a good thing book two, Woman of Sunlight is now available because you won't want to leave Hope Mountain!

I received a complimentary copy of Aiming for Love from the publishers. I was not required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are mine alone.

On Wings of Devotion - The Codebreakers book 2 - Roseanna M. White

★★★★★ - You have bewitched me, body and soul. (More Info)

About the Book
All of England thinks Phillip Camden a monster—a man who deliberately caused the deaths of his squadron. But as nurse Arabelle Denler watches the so-dubbed "Black Heart" every day, she sees something far different: a hurting man desperate for mercy. And when their paths twist together and he declares himself her new protector, she realizes she has her own role to play in his healing.

Phillip Camden would have preferred to die that day with his squadron rather than be recruited to the Admiralty's codebreaking division. The threats he receives daily are no great surprise and, in his opinion, well deserved. What comes as a shock is the reborn desire to live that Arabelle inspires in him.

But when an old acquaintance shows up and seems set on using him in a plot that has the codebreakers of Room 40 in a frenzy, new affections are put to the test. (from Goodreads)

My Thoughts

Roseanna's books are among my forever favorites! (And I'm not just saying that.) I LOVE the depth of character and the genuine relationships portrayed. This whole series revolves around the fabulous (fictional) people of Room 40 and the heroes of WWI.

This book has it all! Romance, grief, humor, loyalty, and a doozy of a bad guy. One of my favorite parts is getting to see the story unfold from the villain's perspective. It opens the story up to a whole new level. I also really loved watching Cam and Ara's relationship unfold. The process felt very real and reminded me a little of my own relationship with my husband.

Something I wrote down is FIERCE. I think both Cam and Ara have a fierceness about them. Ara, knows who she is, she knows what she wants in life and she will do exactly what she feels is right. Even if it makes other people unhappy. Camden's whole life was his unit. When they died, and he was blamed for their deaths, all he wanted was to join them at the bottom of the channel. He was filled with self-blame, regret, and guilt. But then God...His journey has been such a pleasure to witness. And Cam is also fierce in his protection and love for those that he cares about.

This was an incredible addition to The Codebreakers series. I loved getting to see Margot again as well as few other familiar faces hehe! I am so SO excited to see what book three holds!

As Roseanna's assistant, I received a complimentary copy of this book. I was not required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are mine alone.

About the Book

Jessamine Beauchene has spent most of her life in hiding and always on the move in an effort to leave her past far behind her. But when she learns the family she thought long dead just might be alive and in danger, she knows her secrets can only stay buried for so long.

Derek Thornbury loves the past, which has led him to become an expert in history and artifacts. He knows Jess has never liked him, but when she requests his help deciphering an old family diary, he can't resist the urge to help solve the puzzle.

As Jess and Derek race to find the hidden artifact before her family's enemies, they learn as much about each other as they do about the past. But can their search to set history right lead to a future together? (from Goodreads)

My Thoughts

Kristi Ann Hunter does like to build the suspense for her stories! I have been longing for Jess's story for such a long time. And let me tell you...Ms. Hunter did not disappoint. Adventure around every corner. A family mystery. Puzzles and history....oh yes! THIS has proved to be the perfect adventure for Jess and Derek...And a few familiar faces join this story! 😀

I listened to A Pursuit of Home through SCRIBD. The narrator, Beverly A. Crick, captured the story beautifully. It helped to hear Jess's accent and the languages spoken. I love all the twists and turns...the faith and spiritual journey...the romance and friendships. Jess never hesitates to push the boundaries of proper society. And Derek has a firm appreciation for the things of history and the way things are. His fondness for Jess is endearing and they are so fit for each other! Wit and humor infuse the pages and the characters will become your new best friends.

I received a complimentary copy of A Pursuit of Home from the publishers. I was not required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are mine alone.
