About the Book

Romance has never been actress Chloe Daschle’s forte—in life or on screen. But everyone knows who to call for a convincing death scene . . . and it might be killing her career.

When Chloe is given a peek at the script for an epic love story, she decides to take her destiny into her own hands and request an audition for the lead female role, Esther Kingsley. The compelling tale, inspired by family lore and a one-page letter from the colonial ancestor of scriptwriter Jesse Gates, just might break her out of this career-crippling rut. Jesse would rather write about romance than live through it after his past relationship ended in disaster. But once on-set together, the chemistry between Jesse and his leading lady is hard to deny.

Centuries earlier, in the heart of the Revolutionary War, Hamilton Lightfoot and Esther Longfellow wrote their saga off the silver screen. Esther’s Loyalist father opposes any relationship with Hamilton, but Esther must face her beloved father’s disapproval and the dangers of war in order to convince Hamilton of their future together. Hamilton has loved Esther for years, and on the eve of battle pens the love letter she’s always wanted—something straight from the heart.

Set in stunning upcountry South Carolina,
The Love Letter
is a beautifully-crafted story of the courage it takes to face down fear and chase after love, even in the darkest of times. And just maybe, all these generations later, love can come home in a way not even Hollywood could imagine. (Author Website)
My Thoughts
Why oh why have I not gotten my hands on one of Rachel Hauck's books before? I am so glad I chose The Love Letter as my first one.

Woven with words that intoxicate the soul, Hauck brings us a story of pure beauty. Heartache and passion drive Chloe. She longs to change the way that people see her. But it may be a harder task than she first imagined. The connections through history were so cleverly created. Time-slip novels have become my favorite. With each page you are longing to discover the connection between the two timelines. And when the realization finally hits, it's a glorious moment to behold. Jesse is such a wonderful hero. Handsome, flawed, talented, and bit of a history nut. Traveling back to the American Revolutionary War, we meet Hamilton and Esther. Oh my goodness. Their story is one you really must discover for yourself.

With the heart of the story coming back to Christ and Love, readers will fall in love with the settings (in both eras), the characters, and the passion. The depth and characterization found on the pages of this book will move you and speak to the heart.

I received a complimentary copy of The Love Letter from the publishers. I was not required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are mine alone.

My Thoughts

Every book in this series has completely blown me away. And through it all, I have been LONGING for more about Barclay. I was so ecstatic when I found out Roseanna White would be featuring him in the final book of the series. Now, don't get me wrong, Evelina is the perfect match for him, and I enjoyed her story too...But BARCLAY...SWOON...

He truly deserves the title of "Swoon Worthy". From the care for his family to his undercover work, to learning about his childhood...Your heart will ache, cheer, and be encouraged. The author has created a whole world of people that carve out their own place in your heart. There is no going back once you dive into this realm.

True to her style, Roseanna seamlessly weaves faith, love, and bit of mystery into this story. Set in the midst of The Great War, this is the perfect story for anyone who loves Downton Abbey or WWI history. Or maybe, you are looking for something new-to-you. You won't go wrong with this series. Start with A Name Unknown and fall in love with Rosie and Peter first!

About the Author

Roseanna M. White is a bestselling, Christy Award nominated author who has long claimed that words are the air she breathes. When not writing fiction, she’s homeschooling her two kids, editing, designing book covers, and pretending her house will clean itself. Roseanna is the author of a slew of historical novels that span several continents and thousands of years. Spies and war and mayhem always seem to find their way into her books…to offset her real life, which is blessedly ordinary. You can learn more about her and her stories at www.RoseannaMWhite.com.

Guest Post from Roseanna

Last year, as I finished up the writing of An Hour Unspent, my great-grandmother passed away at the age of 103. As I sat at her funeral service and listened to the heartfelt memorial raised up to her by her kids and grandkids, I realized anew that this woman had been a matriarch in the truest sense of the word. She’d taught my family for generations how to love the Lord and each other, how to serve the Lord and each other, and how to trust the Lord and each other. Grandma Seward was, in so many ways, the one who instilled in me my idea of what family really is. That idea—that it’s those knit together by love more than blood, and that faith is the strongest foundation—is what I built my unusual family of thieves upon in the Shadows Over England series. And strange as it is to liken my twenty-something reformed-thief hero to my 103-year-old-grandmother, Barclay Pearce is very much to his family what Maxine Seward was to mine. The founder. The caregiver. The leader. I knew as I began the series that I would write about Barclay in book three, and as I got to know him better throughout the series, I grew so excited to share his story! This is a man who led his family first into and then out of a life a crime, always for the right reasons—so he could provide for the children under his care. All he ever wanted to do was give them what he himself had lost. To show them love. To prove to them that they were worth any sacrifice. It was truly a blessing for me to get to write the story in which Barclay found someone to come alongside him, to appreciate and learn to understand him. To finally share what started him down this path. I loved the idea that only a reformed thief could steal the time another family needed to overcome their own trials. There are many historical items in the book that were such fun to explore—watchmaking of the era, the suffrage movement in England, technological advancements of the war—but at the heart, this isn’t a story about any of those. It’s a story about how far people should go for love. I hope you enjoy Barclay’s story as much as I did!

FREE Mrs. Meyer's Holiday Set from Grove Collaborative
It's that time of year again. Our house is buzzing with activity, from hosting out-of-town guests, to throwing holiday parties, to wrapping gifts and decorating the mantel.
Not surprisingly, my desire to have a clean, welcoming home intensifies tenfold in November.
Fortunately, it's also the time of year when Mrs. Meyer's holiday scents return. Not only do they look and smell festive, they also make the task of cleaning and doing dishes a lot more enjoyable!
This year, Mrs. Meyer's is bringing back three crowd favorites: Iowa Pine, Peppermint, and Orange Clove. I've been waiting all year for Iowa Pine to return, because the crisp and spicy scent fills the entire house with wonderful smells of Christmas trees.
Right now, you can get a free Mrs. Meyer's trio in your choice of scents, plus a free set of Grove Collaborative walnut scrubber sponges — all packed up in a limited edition red cleaning caddy for gifting (or keeping!).
  • Free Mrs. Meyer's holiday hand soap
  • Free Mrs. Meyer's holiday dish soap
  • Free Mrs. Meyer's holiday multi-surface spray
  • Grove Collaborative red caddy
  • Grove Collaborative walnut scrubber sponges

Plus, if you spend $39, you’ll also receive a free Grove stoneware tray to beautifully display your new holiday soaps.
If you’re already a Grove customer, you’ll get a free set of Grove walnut scrubbers  — perfect for cleaning up after baking cookies or pumpkin pie.
This beautiful red caddy is everything you need to organize your home for the holidays! While you could go the traditional route and use it to store your cleaning supplies, it would also make a great gift wrapping station stocked with tape, ribbons, markers, and tags. Or, wrap your silverware in napkins, secure with a napkin ring, and place them in the caddy for your holiday buffet.
Speaking of holiday buffets, there's no shortage of dirty dishes this time of year. Fortunately, Mrs. Meyer's dish soap is perfect for tackling tough messes. Put a drop in your roasting pan or crockpot and watch grease disappear!
Of course, no kitchen or bathroom is complete without Mrs. Meyer's hand soap. I get tons of compliments on these scents, and the cheerful bottles are an easy way to spruce up your sink-side display.
Another holiday hosting must-have is Mrs. Meyer's multi-surface cleaner. It's ideal for those last-minute cleanups before guests arrive. You only need one product for countertops, walls, bathroom fixtures, and wood or tile floors. Plus, it leaves your entire home smelling like the holidays.
Since the holiday season is also flu season, I always keep the multi-surface spray on hand for wiping down faucets, doorknobs, and other surfaces that get touched all the time.
Grove Collaborative is also an essential for me during the busy holiday season! Grove hand-selects the best natural products and delivers them (carbon offset) right to your doorstep, on your schedule. They've got you covered for all your cleaning and organization needs as you head into the holiday season. Don't forget to stock up on hand soap, toilet paper, and paper towels before your guests arrive!
When you submit your first order, you'll also be signed up for the free 60 day VIP trial. For 60 days, you'll save even more with free shipping, free gifts, price matching, exclusive sales and customer service. That means more money left over to spend on gifts for your family (or a little treat for yourself!).
These holiday sets fly off the shelves faster than toys on Black Friday, so don't wait! Here's how to grab your free set:

(Another) New Adventure!

Saturday, October 6, 2018

It seems like every time I turn around I am writing another post about a fun new adventure that I am embarking on. It is so exciting and a little (ok a lot) scary, but so.much.fun!

This time, however, I am also going to need to take a huge step back on the blog. (Insert sobbing) Never fear! This is not the end of Bookworm Mama, I'm just turning my focus in a different direction for a while.

As I am sure you have noticed, this summer (and fall) have been CRAZY around here. Between 2 family reunions, around the house projects, working as an author assistant, and now with the school year in full swing, homeschooling my 1st grader is a priority. Balancing homeschooling, housework, working, and my other bookish commitments has been tough the last couple of months. So I am going to be posting a lot less on the blog. I will still review the books I read for influencer teams and blog tours here. And you will be able to find more articles and reviews at my new "home" over on Hope by the Book!

For some reason, I can't seem to say no to these new adventures. And ultimately, it's all thanks to you, MY READERS, that I've entered into this amazing new role of Associate Editor for Hope by the Book magazine. If you haven't seen the buzz going around social media yet, this is a NEW magazine for avid readers, by avid readers. The first issue will be launching in November and trust me, you are NOT going to want to miss it!

Check out the website for a taste of what is to come! And use the code BOOKISH for a special discount when you subscribe!

Don't live in the USA? No problem! We are offering the magazine internationally too!!! (And you can use the same discount code.)

Needless to say, launching a new magazine is not an easy task. I am so thankful for the team of amazing ladies that I get to work with on a daily basis! Carrie, our fearless leader, is the Senior Editor for this magazine (Reading is my SuperPower). Along with Beth (Faithfully Bookish) and Annie (Just Commonly). A better team, I couldn't ask for.

Now, this is where I need you! Yes, YOU...My bookish people...We are looking to build our team. Please email me (or use the contact form) if you would be interested in reviewing books or writing articles!

So, has this year been a crazy year? You BET! Have doors opened that I never even dreamed were a possibility? Affirmative! Am I excited to see where God is going to direct my path next? Darn tootin' I am!

Thank you all, so much for always being so supportive of the dreams I share with you and for being an encouragement! If I hadn't started Bookworm Mama 4 years ago when my son was in the hospital...And if I didn't have readers to support this journey...I wouldn't be where I am today!
