About the Book

Four Festive and Heartwarming Romance Novellas That Celebrate the Magic of Christmas

Perfect for the Christmas season, four beloved authors bring their bestselling, award-winning talents to a multigenerational collection of romantic holiday novellas. In stories ranging from 1820s Regency England to present-day Washington state, readers will be treated to Christmas tales of an heirloom brooch passed from mother to daughter for almost two hundred years. Will the family legend claiming the brooch brings love to its recipient hold true for these women separated by the years but bonded together by the ties of family?

In Kristi Ann Hunter's "Legacy of Love," Sarah Gooding never suspected returning a brooch to an elderly woman would lead to a job . . . and introduce her to the woman's grandson. While he may be far above her station, she can't help but notice that his desire to make this Christmas special for his grandmother matches her own.

In Karen Witemeyer's "Gift of the Heart," widow Ruth Fulbright uses the family brooch as collateral for a loan from a wealthy resort owner. But the more she comes to know the man behind the stern businessman, the more she hopes for a second chance at love as the holidays draw near.

In Sarah Loudin Thomas's "A Shot at Love," Fleeta Brady's rough-and-tumble childhood means she prefers hunting to more feminine activities. She never expected her mother's brooch might be how a fellow hunter turns her attention from competition to romance one December.

In Becky Wade's "Because of You," Maddie Winslow has spent years in love with a man whose heart was already spoken for. When a church Christmas project brings them together and she stumbles upon an old family brooch, might it finally be her turn for love?

My Thoughts

Christmas stories are.my.favorite! I absolutely love this time of year and what better way to immerse myself in the Holiday fervor than to read stories about Christmas? This collection of novellas is a beautiful compilation of a family's history and weaves through the generations.

Beginning in Regency England and ending in modern-day Washington State. Each of these are fun, short, Christmas romances filled with plenty of humor. Your heart will be thrilled as you dive into this book.

If you haven't read any of these author's books before, you will get a healthy taste of their style and voice. Make sure to check out the other stories in the series that these novellas are a part of.

I received a complimentary copy of The Christmas Heirloom from the publishers. I was not required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are mine alone.

My Thoughts

These journals are GORGEOUS! Such a creative take on journaling.

Illuminate Your Story is filled with information on the process and history of lettering. Like how the priests used to illustrate the Bible when they would hand copy the script. With step-by-step instructions, this journal will help you create your very own Illuminated Journal. With verses and pages for journaling, this is the perfect gift for the creative doodler. There are more pages for practicing lettering than there are for writing journal entries. A pen holder is included, as well as a bookmark and elastic band to keep the book closed.

Faith & Lettering takes journaling to a whole new level. With pages for writing standard journal entries, bullet journaling, pages with grid lines for practicing lettering, and lots of fun images to learn how to draw. I think this one is my personal favorite of the three. Fun, colorful, and a larger variety of styles. A pen holder is included. This book is filled with scripture and inspirational quotes that are beautifully crafted by the author.

The Illustrated Word has a very unique take. Filled with pictures of ancient illustrations on one page and a coloring book page inspired by the said picture on the next page. It is incredible to see the detail and intricacies of the ancient illustrations. The time and thought that had to have gone into each one is astounding. This journal is perfect for those who love coloring books. This journal also has the most lined pages for standard journaling.

My thanks to Worthy Publishing Group for providing complimentary copies of each of these journals. I was not required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are mine alone.

Fawkes - Nadine Brandes

My Rating
★★★★★ - You have bewitched me, body and soul. (More Info)

About the Book

Thomas Fawkes is turning to stone, and the only cure to the Stone Plague is to join his father’s plot to assassinate the king of England.

Silent wars leave the most carnage. The wars that are never declared, but are carried out in dark alleys with masks and hidden knives. Wars where color power alters the natural rhythm of 17th century London. And when the king calls for peace, no one listens until he finally calls for death.

But what if death finds him first?

Keepers think the Igniters caused the plague. Igniters think the Keepers did it. But all Thomas knows is that the Stone Plague infecting his eye is spreading. And if he doesn’t do something soon, he’ll be a lifeless statue. So when his Keeper father, Guy Fawkes, invites him to join the Gunpowder Plot—claiming it will put an end to the plague—Thomas is in.

The plan: use 36 barrels of gunpowder to blow up the Igniter King.

The problem: Doing so will destroy the family of the girl Thomas loves. But backing out of the plot will send his father and the other plotters to the gallows. To save one, Thomas will lose the other.

No matter Thomas’s choice, one thing is clear: once the decision is made and the color masks have been put on, there’s no turning back. (From the author's website)

My Thoughts
A stunning masterpiece. Melding history and fantasy into an unforgettable story.

I can not get over just how much I have come to love this story! There is so much history in this story that I was shocked by how well the author was able to mingle such a rich fantasy aspect to the story as well.

This story has so much to captivate the imagination, magic, romance, battles, plots, alliances, and true history! Brandes has created such a world of Colors that makes me believe color speak is possible. I am so impressed I am in a sort of color-daze.

The bottom line, if you enjoy YA Fantasy you will fall in LOVE with this story. If you enjoy historical books but haven't been brave enough to give the fantasy genre a try yet...I have a feeling you will enjoy this one. So be brave, give it a try...You may just fall in love with a new author!

I received a complimentary copy of Fawkes from the publishers. I was not required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are mine alone.

About the Book

The daughter of a pagan high priest, Sofea finds solace from her troubles in the freedom of the ocean. But when marauders attack her village on the island of Sicily, she and her cousin are taken across the sea to the shores of Canaan.

Eitan has lived in Kedesh, a city of refuge, for the last eleven years, haunted by a tragedy in his childhood, yet chafing at the boundaries placed on him. He is immediately captivated by Sofea, but revealing his most guarded secret could mean drawing her into the danger of his past.

As threats from outside the walls loom and traitors are uncovered within, Sofea and Eitan are plunged into the midst of a murder plot. Can they uncover the betrayal in time to save their lives and the lives of those they love? (Bethany House)

My Thoughts

Connilyn Cossette continues to bring a refreshing voice to Biblical Fiction. Expanding the horizons and bringing us thrilling and captivating stories to satisfy this nerd girl's heart.

I absolutely love discovering what life was like in ancient times. Cossette brings the lives of these people and their cultures to life in ways that will astound you. Sofea grew up in an isolated culture. Throughout this story, she is on a journey to learn who this God of the Hebrews is. His gentleness, His kindness, His love for His children. Eitan is a swoony hero in all his long-haired, bearded manliness...A protector and a fighter. Don't you dare come between him and those he loves...You will regret it. I loved watching their romance unfold. With two cultures clashing, you can imagine that it wasn't all smooth. But the results were definitely worth it.

I highly recommend Connilynn's stories (yes, all of them). She opens the history books for us in a way that is unique and compelling. I can not get enough of her stories, and neither will you!

I received a complimentary copy of Shelter of the Most High from the publishers. I was not required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are mine alone.

About the Author
Connilyn CossetteWhen she is not homeschooling her two sweet kids (with a full pot of coffee in at hand), Connilyn Cossette is scribbling notes on spare paper, mumbling about her imaginary friends, and reading obscure, out-of-print history books. There is nothing she likes better than digging into the rich ancient world of the Bible and uncovering buried gems of grace that point toward Jesus. Although a Pacific Northwest native, she now lives near Dallas, Texas.
