2016 Reading Challenge - Keep Calm and Carry On...to 2017

Thursday, September 29, 2016

While I started the year with good intentions, I am afraid that my obsession with a few new releases overruled this Reading Challenge. However, there are books on this list that I really want to read. So, I will be carrying over the unfinished slots into 2017. I have completed 25 out of 38 so I am at 66%, which I don't think is very bad. Considering my overall count for the year is 61 books right now. This does include a few coloring books and kids books...But I have reviewed all of them.

2016 Reading Challenge:
  • A book based on a fairy tale
  • A National Book Award winner

  • A Young Adult novel

★★★★★ - You have bewitched me, body and soul. (More Info)

About the Book
A funny, heartfelt romance about how an antique shop, a wardrobe, and a mysterious tea cup bring two C.S. Lewis fans together in a snowy and picturesque Oxford, England.

Emelia Mason has spent her career finding the dirt on the rich and famous. But deep down past this fearless tabloid-reporter façade, there’s a nerdy Narnia-obsessed girl who still can’t resist climbing into wardrobes to check for the magical land on the other side. When a story she writes produces tragic results, she flees to Oxford, England—home to C.S. Lewis—to try and make amends for the damage she has caused.

Culturelle® Kids Regularity Gentle-Go™ Formula - Product Review

Friday, September 16, 2016

About the Product

Helping to Restore Regularity*
When children have trouble staying regular, they often feel uncomfortable. Culturelle® Kids Regularity Gentle-Go™ Formula provides a safe, gentle and drug-free way to help restore regularity.*

Keeping Kids’ Digestive Systems Running Smoothly*

We’ve also included a box of Culturelle® Kids Packets Daily Probiotic Formula to help keep your kids healthy.*

My Thoughts

My son has had ongoing issues with being "regular". Changes in diet, medications, fluids, etc. have all played a part in this. Per his doctor we were giving him the regular Culturelle daily. However, that didn't help with his regularity issues. I have spoken with his doctor and she was thrilled with Culturelle® Kids Regularity Gentle-Go™ Formula. She said to give him this daily, instead of the regular Culturelle. My son (2 years old) has been taking one packet daily for about a month now. Can you say "Yay!" for having a child who is now "regular". I highly recommend this product if your child is having regularity issues. Both my child and I think that this product works wonderfully! The ONE complaint I have, is that it doesn't mix well. In milk it didn't dissolve well and made the texture too grainy. In the purees, it is super chunky and takes quite the effort to make it all blend in. In both room temperature and refrigerated purees of both fruits and veggies.

First Line Fridays - 9/16/16 - A Lady Unrivaled

Welcome to another Friday! I am so ready for this weekend! Never let me schedule 4 appointments in 4 days for my son again...That was a mistake. I also had to bring my 4 year old along, but he behaved so well. SO proud of them both. But now...All I want to do today is hide away in my nook and read! My first line is from A Lady Unrivaled. The last book in Roseanna M. White's Ladies of the Manor series. I am about halfway through and devouring every word. So without further ado...

What is your first line? Post it below and then head over and have more First Line fun! And have a fantabulous Labor Day weekend!

About the Book

A disgraced scholar running from her past and an entrepreneur chasing his future find themselves thrown together—and fall in love—on a Tolkien tour of New Zealand.

Allison Shire (yes, like where the Hobbits live) is a disgraced academic who is done with love. Her belief in “happily ever after” ended the day she discovered her husband was still married to a wife she knew nothing about. She finally finds a use for her English degree by guiding tours through the famous sites featured in the Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit movies. By living life on the road and traveling New Zealand as a luxury tour guide, Allison manages to outrun the pain of her past she can’t face.

Jackson Gregory was on the cusp of making it big. Then suddenly his girlfriend left him—for his biggest business competitor—and took his most guarded commercial secrets with her. To make matters worse, the Iowa farm that has been in his family for generations is facing foreclosure. Determined to save his parents from financial ruin, he’ll do whatever it takes to convince his wealthy great-uncle to invest in his next scheme, which means accompanying him to the bottom of the world to spend three weeks pretending to be a die-hard Lord of the Rings fan, even though he knows nothing about the stories. The one thing that stands between him and his goal is a know-it-all tour guide who can’t stand him and pegged him as a fake the moment he walked off the plane.

When Allison leads the group through the famous sites of the Tolkien movies, she and Jackson start to see each other differently, and as they keep getting thrown together on the tour, they find themselves drawn to each other. Neither expected to fall in love again, but can they find a way beyond their regrets to take a chance on the one thing they’re not looking for?
