Monday, June 27, 2016

Both Trent and Summer have been searching for fulfillment their whole lives. Will they continue to fill the hole in their hearts with material things? Or will they let God fill every them to overflowing?

"Who would have thought her reality would far outreach any of her fantasies?"
-Finders Keepers, Sarah Monzon

About the Book
Three lives. Three hundred years. One ship that ties them together.

Spain, 1689

The same evil that stole her mother’s life stalks Isabella Castellano. Afraid for her safety, Isabella disguises herself as a cabin boy and hires on to one of His Majesty’s treasure fleet vessels. But has her flight from a known threat only led her to be ensnared in a sea of dangers?

Florida, Present Day

Summer Arnet will go anywhere to capture the perfect shot that will get her marine photography noticed by the prestigious nature magazine, Our World—even diving in waters haunted by great white sharks. When a treasure hunter with a ladies’-man reputation approaches her about a sunken ship at one of her dive locations, it may be the chance she’s been looking for to launch her career…if his charming smile doesn’t derail her first.
A past tragedy has left a hole in Trent Carrington’s life—a hole he’s tried to fill with women, money, and adventure. Could the feisty marine photographer be the missing piece, or will Trent finally accept that the treasure he seeks can’t be found where rust and moths destroy? (From Goodreads)

My Thoughts

As most of you might have figured out by now, I don't read too much contemporary fiction. It is not that I am opposed to it, I just haven't seen too many that truly strike my fancy. And if you are on the fence between Contemporary and Historical Fiction, Finders Keepers is the best of both worlds! I LOVE the dual timeline. It totally works in this story. I became so immersed in both stories it was driving me crazy, because I have zero patience and wanted to know what happened next. I stayed up WAAAAAY too late multiple nights in a row. The references Sarah strategically placed, were pure perfection. Adele, Anne of Green Gables, Pride & Prejudice, Sylvester the Cat, as well as several more, all made me smile and giggle with glee. I have always had a fascination with archeology and history and it was beautiful to see history come to life in this book. Full of romance, faith, forgiveness, and our heavenly Father's never ceasing love, Finders Keepers will keep you on the edge of your seat and take your breath away.

I received a free copy of Finders Keepers from the author in exchange for my honest review. All opinions expressed are mine alone.

About the Author
I was raised in Florida (think warm, humid air, palm trees, white sandy beaches) and am currently living in central Washington (no, not the rugged mountains and towering evergreens. The dry, brown desert of rolling tumbleweeds and absolutely no trees). I wear the badges of Pastor's Wife and Stay at Home Mom with honor. My constant companions are the two cutest humans under four feet tall--Elijah, 4.5 years old, and Arianna, 2 years old. My days are filled with picture books, Play-doh, LEGOs, and Hot Wheels. Jealous, aren't you? I've always loved reading. I was one of those kids who would get in trouble because, instead of doing something I was supposed to be doing, my nose was pressed between the pages of a book.
Writing followed close behind. In fact, I was a published author at the young age of seven. It was an anthology published by Woodward Elementary School. I believe the story was about a talking pencil. Enthralling fair, I know.
