First Line Fridays - The Thorn Healer - 11/25/16

Friday, November 25, 2016

Happy Thanksgiving!!!

I hope you had a lovely holiday! Ours will be spent (yes I am writing this ahead of time) with my husband's family this year. Just a small gathering. But the day promises to be full of enjoyment and relaxation.

If you can manage to scrounge up a book in your turkey coma...grab it and post the first line!

If y'all don't know by now, I am kinda in love with Pepper Basham's books. (She is pretty swell too.) So this week I am featuring her latest release The Thorn Healer. It is releasing on December 6th, so make sure you pre-order it today!

May 1918
"Wounded soldiers returned from war as heroes. Wounded nurses returned as old maids."

Yes, yes...I know...That is two lines. Check out my REVIEW and SNEAK PEEK at The Thorn Healer after you post your first line.

Post your First Line and what you are THANKFUL for below and head over to see what First Lines my lovely friends have today!

  1. As I eat pumpkin pie for lunch I will grab the nearest book to me, it is in my toppling TBR pile:

"If Jake Palmer had only kept the mundane promise he'd made to himself, his life wouldn't be headed down a dead -end road at the speed of light" - The Long Journey to Jake Palmer by James L Rubart

  2. “Hattie Alexander let out a sigh as she opened up the front door to Savannah House and plopped herself down on the chaise in the parlor.” From Heart of Mine by Belle Calhoune

  3. 7 Heart Ranch, Hartville, Texas

"Quiet down, now." George Washington Hart put his hands flat on the dining room table and levered himself upright. "I have something to say." - 7 Brides for 7 Texans Romance Collection by Erica Vetsch, Amanda Barratt, Susan Page Davis, Keli Gwyn, Vickie McDonough, Gabrielle Meyer and Lorna Seilstad. It just came in today's mail.

  4. Seattle, Washington Territory
    December 1866

"What better time than a wedding to ask a man to marry you?"

    1. I forgot the title. :)

The Convenient Christmas Wedding by Regina Scott

  5. Loved The Thorn Healer!

My first line is from Jaded by Varina Denman

"Ruthie, did you hear? There's a new kid up at the school."

  6. I love Pepper!!! I have cleared my schedule of all books but 2 for the next couple of weeks and hers is one of them!! Yay, yay, yay!!!

    Lake Michigan
I am living my nightmare. A violent storm has overtaken our steamship, and as we mount high on the crest of a wave one moment, then plunge sickeningly into a watery trough the next, I am certain we are about to sink.

Had to let you in on the second line there, too much suspense for just one little line!

    1. What book is that? Is it Love Unexpected? It sounds like Jody Hedlund's book.

    2. Waves of Mercy by Lynn Austin... my brain must have been in a turkey fog!
