First Line Fridays - 9/30/16 - The Cautious Maiden

Who is excited for Friday??? I sure am! This weekend we have have cousins coming from across the state to visit us! Yay!!!

This week Dawn Crandall's fourth book in The Everstone Chronicles releases! I am so excited for this book! Now being that it is the fourth book and releases on October 4th...I am going to share the first 4 lines with you...Because they are short and I want to give you a taste of the wonderful words within this book!

"Hey Vi! You got a minute?"
My brother's voice came to me from the darkness, falling over the safest place I'd ever known--Everston, where I worked the front desk, and where, for the first time in my life, I had any sort of independence.
"Ezra, you shouldn't be here."

Yes, a book has my son's name in it! You will just have to read the books to see what kind of character Dawn's Ezra is though.

What is your first line? Or four...
Don't miss out on more First Lines! Follow the links below to more Friday fun!

  2. I'm so excited about the conclusion of Dawn's series! I'll be reading it soon!
Thanks for doing more than one line today, it's so hard to stop at one!!!

"This looks like a fairy-tale cottage, one you'd see painted on the cover of a kids' book." Abby Hart turned toward Robert "Woody" Woods as they reached their destination. "Trouble is, in those books something bad often lives in the cottage."
    Her partner laughed.

  3. "At least here, online, Hannah Butcher, aka SmokinHuntress62, could save the world. She held her bow, arrow strung, ready to attack as she neared the zombie-infested ruin. She'd spent hours raising her archery skill so she'd be ready for this particular fight, and today, no one died. Not if she could save them." From the first book in Candy Cane Kisses: Oh, The Weather Outside Is Frightful by Susan May Warren

    2. The zombies are just in this video game that Hannah is playing, and not in the story.

  8. I'm hoping to start book 2 in Dawn Crandall's Everstone Chronicles, The Bound Heart, this weekend. Here are the first four lines (is that enough to qualify as having started it?) of the prologue:

"Come on, Meredyth..." Vance Everstone urged with a smile.
"Only if you go first," I called down as I sat upon a large boulder, positioned higher than his broad six-foot frame.
Vance suddenly seemed so grown up as he gazed at me with that crooked grin. In that moment, I had my first inkling of what it might be like to have Vance Everstone fall in love with me.
