First Line Fridays - Then There Was You

Friday, June 30, 2017

Happy Friday!!!

Can someone PLEASE explain how this year is going by so fast? I can not believe we are HALF WAY THROUGH 2017! This week's first line comes from a book that I will be reading VERY soon! I can't wait! Kara Isaac has produced 2 of my absolute FAVORITE Contemporary Romance books...And I can't wait to read the magic between the pages of Then There Was You. Kara recently (as in this week) won the INSPY Award for Debut Fiction for Close to You! I was honored to be one of the judges for the INSPYS this year(Literature for Young Adults). Such a wonderful opportunity! Anyhoo....on to our first line...

Paige McAllister didn't think it was possible, but there was something worse than being single and thirty at your nineteen-year-old sister's wedding.

CONFESSION: I kept reading for a few more lines...and I am already cracking up! Make sure you grab a copy now!

If you would like to host First Line Fridays on your blog, contact Carrie on Reading is my SuperPower.

  1. I want to read Kara's book. Happy Friday!
My first line is from Rediscovering Americanism by Mark R. Levin: "I often wonder what Thomas Jefferson, George Washington, James Madison, John Adams, George Mason, Benjamin Franklin, and the other Founders would think about today's America.

    1. OH my gosh...I have thought this very same thought several times...especially recently. :( Thanks for sharing!

  2. This book sounds great! My #TBR is getting wobbly 😊
I borrowed my 9-year old son's current read to share in the comments. This is a super fun mystery book for kids and one that's been read more than once!

"Voices sounded, but no one was there to hear them."
    Treasure On Spy Glass Hill
    by: Paul B. Ricchuiti.

    1. My TBR has transitioned into an island at this point hahaha!

  3. Kara's stories are so enchanting!

The stack of photographs slipped to the floor, splaying across the wood planks like wildflowers over a grassy meadow. - Strand of Deception by Robin Caroll

  4. I've been wanting thos read that book so badly! Thanks for sharing!

My first line is from Healing Love by Jennifer Slattery.

"She'd spent over $100,000 and two years in grad school for this?"

  5. I love a good romance that makes me laugh. I'll have to add this one to my TBR. :)

Today I'm sharing the first line from "A Match Made in Alaska" over on my blog, but the first line I'm sharing here is from a book I recently finished, "Against the Tide" by Elizabeth Camden:

    Boston, 1876
Lydia was embarrassed to wear a damp dress on the first day of school, but it rained last night while her clothes were strung across the boat's rigging to dry.

  6. My Heart Belongs in : Mackinac Island by Carrie Fancett Pagels! Maude Welling’s twelve year old brother, Jack, raced across the waxed wood floor of the soda shop, straight toward her, then skidded to a halt.

  7. "For once in is life, Trey Walker Stafford had aced his two older brothers." from Peace in the Valley by Ruth Logan Herne.

  8. One of my favourite books of 2017! SO. GOOD!

I have the first line from Over Maya Dead Body on my blog today, but I’m going to share the first line from another great read about to release, Susan May Warren’s “A Matter of Trust”:

“Gage Watson blamed the trouble on the bright, sunny day.”

  9. I can't wait to read this book! It is moving slowly up my tbr! Happy 4th weekend!

  10. I keep seeing this book on social media...looks great! Happy Monday and Happy 4th of July!
