First Line Fridays - Unending Devotion

Friday, June 23, 2017

Happy Friday! Happy Summer! Happy Reading!

Summer is OFFICIALLY here! And as much as I really DON'T like the heat...I do like the sun...and being able to send my kids outside to play. Check in with me about the end July and ask if my opinions still hold! Haha! I am thankful for A/C that is for sure!

Today's first line comes from a book that has been sitting on my shelf for over a year now. I ADORE Jody Hedlund and can't wait to get caught up reading her books prior to the Beacons of Hope Series....Someday...

It was time. The drunk shanty boys were finally quiet

  1. Sadly, this series is still sitting on my Kindle waiting for me, too...

I have the first line from Kara Isaac's AMAZING new release "Then There Was You" on my blog, but the first line I'm sharing here is from Kara Swanson's recent release, "The Girl Who Could See". (It must be a Kara kind of day!)

"On television crime shows, they never tell you how cold it is."

  2. I love Jody Hedlund!

Today, I'm sharing from a book I just finished a couple days ago, Mistakenly Married by Victorine Lieske: "Penny wrung her hands and walked to the back of the room."

  3. I'm still catching up on back reading Jody's books!

Suzie shivered at Carson Snotte's words, not the March air with its hint of lingering winter. Barely Above Water by Gail Pallotta

  4. I want to read Unending Devotion!

My first line is from Sweetbriar Cottage by Denise Hunter: "There was nothing like a letter from the IRS to stop a man in his tracks."

  5. Good morning. My first line is from, "Mandy," a chapter book for kids by Julie Andrews Edwards.

"On the outskirts of a pretty country village called St. Martin's Green, there stands a large, white house called St. Martin's Orphanage."

  6. That is such a beautiful cover! But unfortunately, I haven't liked what I've read of Jody Hedlund. I'm not a huge romance fan. ;)

On my blog is the first line from "Promise Me This" by Cathy Gohlke, but here I'll share the first line of the book I got in the mail yesterday: "Heart on the Line" by Karen Witemeyer! This will be my first to read of hers...
"The cheerful tinkle of a bell alerted Grace Mallory to the arrival of a guest."

  9. From a book I finally got to read from my TBR list.
The little hairs on the back of Allegra Spencer's neck stood at attention.
